Welcome back, you little smutty turtle. π
Back into the darkness we go β questionable men, questionable decisions and absolutely no regrets. π€
Do we love a really possessive man in books? Yes, we do. But why do we do that? I have no idea, it just scratches my head – I think we all giggle like schoolgirls when he says “She’s Mine.” π€ I know I do, I cannot help it. It just comes out, it doesn’t matter if I’m at home, at work or at school – it just slips. If my man would be that jealous as the men in our books – I would probably just laugh at him and tell him to work on himself. But in books? Oh yes, that SCRATCHES my brain. π
So naturally, I had to make a list with some of my favorite possessive book boyfriends that I would probably not say “no” to. And apperantly my list is long, so it will have to be multiple parts. Sorry, not sorry. π
I will try to not spoil the books while spiralling on about my boyfriends, but I can’t promise it. π
Of course we start of with one of my first book boyfriends. π
Rowan Kane from Butcher & Blackbird by Brynne Weaver
This book was my first dark romcom, and I absolutely loved it. Rowan is so incredibly funny, and thats the way to my heart. I laughed so much through the entire book, and got jealous of Sloane for being near Rowan. We also need to remember that Rowan isn’t possessive in like “touch her and die” way, he is more obssessive of Sloane. And he’s obsession is adorable, I mean – he yearns for her for 354 days (times 4) and if that is not obssession, then I don’t know what is. He doesn’t care about the competition after round 1, that man has another goal instead. π Sloane lives rent-free in his head, and that’s what I’m jealous about… It’s hilarious that a serial killer becomes that obssessed with someone, ans actually wants that person to stay alive. π€
Josh Hammond from Lights Out by Navessa Allen
This was the second dark romcom I read. And I was not disappointed. Josh is so funny, even tho he mostly don’t even knows it. He is so freaking cute, I mean he didn’t want them to traumatize Fred.πββ¬When he’s with Aly – he truly is a golden retriver. He will give his life if she asks him. π₯Ήπ₯° When someone threathens Aly – he’ll be like πͺπ because nodoby messes with his girl (and πββ¬). Josh is a stalker, a masked stalker, and we all know what women thinks about that. π I love that he doesn’t really understand what personal boundaries, and that makes him so much cuter. He’s possessive without the “you ARE mine” energy – instead his “please, be mine because I cannot live without you π₯Ή“. That is fucking adorable. π
Dominic King from Flock by Kate Stewart
He may be grumpy, but that just makes him even better. If you get too close to Cecilia – that’s on you. Dominic is very possessive/obsessive about her. He is broody, emotional constipated and territorial. It’s his way or no way, and that is fucking hot. I will always defend this man in court. He do not use words to express himself, he barely talks at all. He just stands/sits/lays there being broody while his friend Sean talks. So he’s aura is kinda like “I-don’t-give-a-fucking-fuck-about-anything”, we all know tho that he does gives a fuck. Dom can express himself some with gestures, and that is sometimes so much better than words. At least for me.
I would not mind at all if Dom would walk into my bedroom, I would just be like “Okay sir, do what you want with me”. π
I can rant about my book boyfriends all night, but I don’t think you want to read all that. I really tried to shortening a lot, but now I feel like it is too short instead. π
What do you think? Is this enough or do you also want longer rants? π
Until next time β stay curious, stay bookish, and embrace the chaos. ππ€
